Structural Health Monitoring

At the request of the UTE CANAL DE ACCESO, the monitoring of the works for the new access channel for the integration of high-speed rail in the city of Valencia is currently underway. Monitoring is being carried out for both the behavior of the construction itself and its surroundings. The Access Channel involves the underground placement of a set of tracks that will replace the current railway tracks entering Valencia. The length of this channel is 1500 meters and includes two underground levels of tracks.

Monitoring in works of this kind is crucial as they operate under a dense urban network composed of various types of buildings, infrastructure, and services. In this project, control is being conducted for the verticality of the screens, as well as potential displacements of the terrain, both on the surface and in depth, vibrations, piezometric levels, etc. Sensors for both continuous automatic reading and manual readings are being installed.

There is a visualization platform where the monitoring results can be remotely viewed in real-time through customizable graphics tailored to each type of sensor. Control thresholds have been established and introduced into the system, automatically generating an alarm system associated with a contingency plan.
