Fatigue analysis

Tests in ICITECH laboratory

Calsens team has designed, developed and carried out an unconventional fatigue test for the span of a metal viaduct. The test has made possible to estimate the number of load cycles that the structure could withstand, for a previously defined stress increase, in order to extrapolate the results to the current situation of viaduct loads. In this test, a load that reproduces a passing of a train as bin applied as many times as the number of cycles to which the structure is going to be subjected during its useful life. A specific test has also been carried out on a full-scale beam to verify the fatigue behavior of these elements.
