OPTOS: a small big satellite “made in Spain”

This morning, the Russian Dnepr launcher has taken off successfully from the Russian base Yasny with 23 satellites on board. One of them, the Spanish nanosatellite OPTO  for National Institute for Aerospace Technology (INTA) will perform magnetic, optical and radiation experiments.

Part of the team of CALSENS and scientists of Optical Communications Group and Quantum  from ITEAM group of Universitat Politècnica de València have collaborated on this satellite OPTOS.

David Barrera and Salvador Sales, one of the founding partners of CALSENS have collaborated on one of the four experiments on board the satellite OPTOS. Specifically, in the development of photonic sensors for structural strain

and FBG temperature fibos: Fiber Bragg Optical Sensors.
